Darning Discs 2 Pack, 10 Pack of Darning Yarn, Darning Thread, Wool and Cotton yarn for mending clothes and fabric
If you're looking to mend your clothing or add an embroidered personal touch, these discs will meet that need perfectly! After trying many different darning discs, mushrooms, and eggs, I found that none of them worked as well as I liked, and they were too fiddly to use comfortably. For this reason, I decided to design my own! These darning discs feature a deep groove all the way around so that a rubber band can easily hold the fabric in place. They also have a notch on the side that makes it easier to remove the rubber band with a darning needle after you've finished. One disc is designed to be narrower to better fit into smaller spaces like the heel of a sock, or the small areas of mittens, gloves, and kids clothing. The larger disc is ideal for darning everywhere else and the size enables you to mend or reinforce a much larger area of fabric before having to move and adjust the disc placement.
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
These darning discs are being sold as a pair in the color of your choice, along with rubber bands and a metal darning needle. Optional: a 10 pack of bobbins pre-wound with darning yarn in either cotton or wool.
Please note, these sets do not include darning instructions. Although I hope to write up instructions for different darning methods, they are not yet included with these sets. However, there are many free resources and videos online that show different methods for mending and reinforcing your garments.
DARNING YARN INFO:
These bobbins are wound with thin, fingering weight, yarn for darning and mending clothes and other items made with fabric. Darning and mending can be used to repair holes, reinforce spots that have worn thin, and cover stains. Darning and mending is a great way to extend the life of your clothes while saving money and minimizing waste.
Each set includes 10 bobbins wound with approximately 4.6 yards each (46 yards of yarn in total), although some bobbins do have a little extra yarn on them. Each bobbin will have different colors on them, and the colors are random. The colors shown are just examples of what you may receive, not the exact sets you will receive. The wool yarn is hand-dyed and may be solid, tonal, variegated, or speckled. The cotton yarns are typically solid colors, although some hand-dyed cotton yarn may be included from time to time. If you would prefer certain colors or styles, please leave a note in the comments section of your order and I will do my best to accommodate.
These sets are available in either wool or cotton. The wool yarn is all superwash, so it's okay to use on clothes that go through the washing machine. It's recommended that you mend clothes with yarn that is made from the same type of material as the fabric - so using wool to mend a wool garment, or cotton for a cotton garment. Although it's not required to match the material, it's recommended so that the yarn will behave in the same way as the cloth of your garment when washed.
These discs are 3D printed with PLA filament, which is an environmentally friendly plastic. 3D printing is still a fairly new technology and on a rare occasion there are some tiny imperfections. All discs are inspected for quality to ensure they will function properly, and to ensure there are no snags. I guarantee the edges will be smooth and sturdy.
